Cast iron is one of the main raw materials for the automotive industry. It is used in an abundance of absolute components and is used in the manufacture of various components, including engine blocks, cylinder heads, differential cases, shafts, flywheels, brake drums and brakes. Disk, etc. Common problems in cast iron turning are as follows:

1) The shape of the cast iron parts is relatively complicated, and the rigidity and clamping rigidity of the parts are relatively weak. The vibration knife is easy to occur during processing, which will affect the machining efficiency and tool stability.
2) The cast iron parts are processed intermittently. Due to the limitation of casting level, the machining allowance is large, and the unstable conditions such as sand holes, gates and flash edges will have a relatively large impact on the stability of the machining.
3) The life of the tool is poor. Compared with 45# steel, the hardness of gray iron is high and the abrasive wear is serious; the hardness and strength of high grade ductile iron are very high, abrasive wear, collapse, oxidation and diffusion are serious. Cast iron workpieces are hard and brittle, and the inserts need to withstand higher cutting heat and cutting forces when machining the workpiece, testing the wear resistance and toughness of the insert.
